How We Measure the ROI of SEO With Google Analytics for Our Clients

Google Analytics is a useful tool for tracking the performance of your website. You can use it to see the number of page views, time spent on the page, bounce rate, and more. These metrics will give you an idea of your return on investment (ROI).

Time on page

Time on page is a metric in Google Analytics that measures how long a visitor stays on a particular page. It is a key performance indicator that a website owner can use to improve the overall user experience.

The time on page isn’t a hard number to find. You can see the average time spent on your pages in the Behavior – Site Content – All Pages report.

The time on page is the best way to measure your site’s effectiveness. However, it’s not the only metric you should be looking at.

The average session duration is also a good indicator of how much time a visitor spends on your site. This number can be influenced by the number of visitors, the type of traffic your site gets, and the quality of content.

If you’re looking for the true test of time on page, you’ll need to log into your Google Analytics account and view the Behavior – Site Content – All Page report. There, you’ll find the average time spent on all your pages, along with some other important metrics.

In this case, the average time spent on page was actually two minutes, 17 seconds. That’s a big deal because most customers believe that a longer time on page is a signal of higher quality content.

Another important metric to consider is the bounce rate. Bounce rate is a percentage of visitors that stay on a page for less than 5 seconds. A high bounce rate can be difficult to diagnose. But it can tell you a lot about your conversion rate.

Page per session

Pages per session is an important indicator of your website’s engagement level. More pages per session means more people are interacting with your website. The more engaged your visitors are, the more sales you’ll generate.

Unlike time-on-site, pages per session is an absolute metric. This makes it easier to track. You can find out how many pages a visitor sees during a single session by typing the URL into the Google Analytics bar or using the Channels Report in the left sidebar.

Compared to time-on-site, pages-per-session is also easier to calculate. It is calculated by dividing the total number of sessions by the total number of page views. In other words, if a user visits three pages in a single session, you will get a page-per-session score of two. On the other hand, if a user visits six pages in a single session, you will receive a page-per-session score of five.

However, a low average page-per-session is not necessarily bad. It can simply mean that the site contains high-quality content that is easy to read.

To improve your pages-per-session, you should create engaging content that appeals to your target audience. Adding videos, downloadable content, and in-text internal linking can all boost the amount of time users spend on your website.

Ideally, you should have an average of 5-10 page-per-session. That’s about what you should aim for for ecommerce sites.

Bounce rate

The bounce rate of Google Analytics is a measurement of how many visits a website receives. It is calculated by dividing the number of single page sessions by the total number of visitors.

Bounce rates can be a useful tool for identifying and qualifying your marketing channels. However, it can be inaccurate to base your entire strategy on the bounce rate alone. If you want to get the most out of your analytics, make sure you consider the full picture.

If you have a high bounce rate, you may need to investigate why this is happening. You can do this by tracking the traffic sources and the time spent on the site.

Bounces can be caused by a lot of things, from poor design to slow page loading. Some sites may experience a high bounce rate because of social media traffic.

A page with a low bounce rate is one that is a success. A landing page should be optimized to drive conversions. This can be done by improving the CTA, adding imagery, and optimizing readability.

In the next screen, click the red “Create” button. This opens a new window. If you have more than 12 widgets, you’ll receive a warning.

Next, you’ll need to give your dashboard a name and create a template. You can also share your dashboard with others. One option is to export it as a PDF. Another is to send it via email. Alternatively, you can upload it to a common solution portal, like Solutions Gallery.

The solutions gallery contains dashboards that have been shared by other Google Analytics users. Each entry is rated and categorized. Depending on the entry, you’ll be able to filter, sort, and learn more about the dashboard.
